Lorna Simpson and Candy Chang are both artists that focus on the individual. While Lorna looks to diminish the existence of the individual in her works, Candy Chang focuses on helping the viewer find themselves as an individual. Lorna focuses on photography as her choice of medium, which is one of my personal favorites, as she tries to find a way to collectively make an individual by taking away the things that make her subjects individuals. Candy does public works which I have found a strong interest in as a result of her "What do you want to do before you die" public art works around the world that have made a strong impact on the communities and spaces she has placed them in. Both artists inspire me to bring out the emotion seeded in the general public, in the midst of striking the interest of certain individuals, as well for the 100 objects project.
